Is there a way to display the text next to (or below) the thumbnails while in one of the grid layouts, PRIOR to clicking? Or, possibly just the first few lines of text.

Hi Kara,
Which layout do you want to modify? You can display for sure the text in the regular layouts by creating a layout override.
I am not sure about "justified" and "wall" layouts because they render using javascript by comptuing the images dimensions. But we can give it a try.
Please let me know which layout you are trying to modify so I can provide detailed instructions.
