Hi Dave-Lee,
Thank you for your message and for using the Pro version. I’m happy to clarify how these features work.
1. AI Tools
AI tools can be used in three ways:
- In the Pages view of the component
- Inside the page editing form of the component
- Directly inside a third-party extension (where the SEO widget is supported)
In all cases, a manual action is required by clicking the “Use AI” button.
If you are working in the Pages view, you also have the option to select multiple pages and run AI tools in batch, which is the easiest way to update SEO data for many pages at once.
2. Canonical URLs
Canonicals are not generated by AI.
They are used to indicate duplicate pages that may exist under different URLs. Route 66 can automatically add the canonical tag during page rendering, based on the URL it detects as canonical.
If needed, this can also be overridden at the page level.
3. Backlinks in the Sitemap
Backlinks are allowed by the Joomla Extensions Directory guidelines.
They are only included in areas that site visitors cannot see, specifically:
- The footer of the component backend
- The XML sitemaps
XML sitemaps are meant to be consumed by search engines, not by website visitors.
If the AI tools are not producing results after clicking Use AI, please let me know and I will be happy to help you troubleshoot it.
Best regards,
Lefteris
