Hello,
I’m using Route 66 Pro v2.1.0 on Joomla 5. I can access the sitemap correctly at
https://staging.vivaioilpolliceverde.it/component/route66/sitemap/1/menus?format=xml,
but /sitemap.xml returns a 404.
I’ve tried the standard rewrite rules in .htaccess, but none worked.
Is there an official way to enable /sitemap.xml as alias for the main sitemap?

Thank you for your message.
The location or URL of the sitemap doesn’t affect its functionality or how search engines read it. What matters is that the sitemap URL is accessible. In your case, you can continue using:
https://staging.vivaioilpolliceverde.it/component/route66/sitemap/1/menus?format=xml
Since this is a staging site, please remember to submit the sitemap URL of your production site to search engines like Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools once it’s live.

It’s perfectly clear now — I’ll keep using the sitemap URL as is and will generate a new one when the site goes live on production.
