Hi Els,
Thank you for reaching out!
We understand your concern regarding the SEO score not reaching the 90+ range anymore, even after ticking all the boxes. Route 66 uses the Yoast SEO engine to calculate these scores, and we regularly update it to ensure compatibility and accuracy.
That said, Yoast’s underlying algorithms do evolve over time, and changes in their scoring logic can lead to different results—even for the same content. In addition to the visible checklist, the engine also considers various other factors that are not always apparent, such as text structure, keyword distribution, and readability patterns. These elements can influence the final score even if all checklist items appear to be satisfied.
To improve the experience and avoid confusion caused by shifting numeric scores, we’re planning to replace the score system with a rating system (e.g., “Good”, “Needs Improvement”, etc.) in the next major update of Route 66. This will align the experience more closely with how Yoast presents feedback and help avoid the frustration that comes with small score fluctuations.
Please feel free to reach out if you’d like us to review a specific article or if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
Lefteris
