Hello,
The “Auto Publish” option works only in conjunction with AI Moderation. It is not a generic auto-publish setting.
Please note that we only send the comment content to the moderation service for analysis. No site traffic or visitor analytics data is sent. Additionally, the OpenAI Moderation API used by CommentBox is completely free of charge. We generally recommend enabling this feature, as it provides automated spam and abuse detection while still allowing comments to be published immediately.
At the moment, CommentBox does not include a pure auto-publish option that bypasses moderation entirely.
There is a permission called “Edit Comments State”. If you set this permission to Allow for your user group, newly submitted comments will be published by default. However, I do not recommend this approach because users granted this permission will also be able to publish and unpublish any comment, not just their own comments.
For that reason, AI Moderation is currently the recommended way to achieve automatic publishing while maintaining control over comment quality and spam.
Kind regards,
Lefteris
