#453 – Causing components to display in mobile view while on desktop - Google Pagespeed

Status: Closed - Category: Route 66
I have had to exclude every component, including articles on my Joomla site because Google Pagespeed plugin has caused all of pages to act in reverse. When on desktop they show up with mobile view, and vice versa, when on mobile they show up with desktop view.
Hi,

Route 66 has an extra caching layer for improved performance. If your site is not responsive and you serve different site version for mobile then try to set the "Cache Time" of Route 66 to 0.

I changed to 0 but this did not solve anything. It also does not explain the issue at hand.

Every time I use a component (even built in Joomla) I have to exclude from Google Page Speed because it show it in mobile version on desktop and desktop version on mobile.

It used to not be this way, I am not sure what changed. What is the point of using the Google Page Speed if I have to exclude it from my entire site because it makes my website display incorrectly on the devices?
May I ask how the device detection is made? Normally this is something that should be done in the server layer (Nginx or Apache). Otherwise you will always face issues with caching.
Route 66 is caching the changes made, that's why setting the cache to 0 should solve the issue.

Please create a new private ticket and provide administrator credentials. I need to take a look in order to troubleshoot this. It may be as simple as reordering some plugins in the backend.

Regards

How would I know how the device detection is made?
Since you say that your site is serving two different versions for mobile and desktop, there is a detection login running either in the server or the application layer (PHP/Joomla).
If you have not modified the server configuration then probably the detection is running at the application layer. It could be a plugin or the site template.
In any case, I need administrator access to your site in order to troubleshoot this.
