#1140 – Canonical replaces self-reference link in head

Status: Closed - Category: Route 66
Hi

I got errors from ahref that my pages don't include a self-referencing href lang. It appears that activating the "canonical" option in your component, the self-reference href lang gets replaced by a canonical ref.

Apparently (found this in the code of 4SEO trying to find out why this is happening), Joomla's AddHeadLink only allows one line per URL so adding "canonical" to the page overwrites the self-referencing tag. This means the canonical href lang needs to be added another way.

Kinds regards
Gijs
Hi Gijs,

This is an issue of Joomla. As far as I know this has been fixed in Joomla 4/5.
Can you please check that your multi-language setup is correct? The plugin that handles that is named "System - Language Filter". Please check the settings there.
Finally, keep in mind, that you can always disable the Route 66 canonicals through component options.

Regards
