The Gallery Custom Field is suddenly empty although the galleries are displayed and are shown in the component. But when I access the field in the article direct there are no images. why?

ah, I think it has to do with yootheme automatically converting all images to webp, that's why they could not be displayed in the field.
I also had to manually allow access to administrator/components/com_showtime in admin tools

no, it only happened in the backend. the galleries were there and also visible in the component. but not when I access the article in the backend and access the showtime custom field. I deactivated the webp setting in yootheme and allowed access to administrator/components/com_showtime in admin tools and now everything works again
I don't think that the Yootheme change has to do with that. I guess that Yootheme converts images to WebP for front-end only. So probably this has to do with admin tools.
In any case, I am glad that everything works fine now.
