#674 – Route 66 -> Granular rights management?

Status: Closed - Category: Route 66
Hi!

I think it would be useful - in our workflow - to be able to set access levels on the menu items of Route 66. It would be nice to allow access to only one or two submenu items that can be used by our clients (especially the SEO Analysis tool) without them having access to the other parts of the extension. We can limit access to the settings, but adding rights management to the submenu items would also be nice to have.

We have set up Route66 on two sites now and I am pretty happy with it. We are using all three extensions by Firecoders now. Great extensions. Thanks. I hope you find my suggestions helpful.
Hi Jip,

Great to hear that. I am not sure how this can be done. I mean even if I add code to prevent access for some features of the extension the menu would still be visible to everyone. Unless there is a way and I am not aware of it.
Have you seen any other extension implementing something similar?

Regards

I know Acymailing 6 now has the option to use user management to allow or disallow users to parts of the extension. But I also know they probably do not use any (or may just some) Joomla framework code. So that probably won't help ;-)

I don;t know if Joomla has a way to use user management on submenu items like it does on the component level (main menu item). So I can't help you with that.

It's not a big issue. We just need to choose to allow users access to the extension or not.
I will close this issue.
