#120 – any url with a number in it redirects to the article with that id

Status: Closed - Category: Route 66
I have discovered using Route66 with just a basic setup of {articleid} that anytime we enter a random URL with a number in it, it will automatically be redirected to the article that has that ID of the number in the URL. For example, when we use a year in a URL:

http://mysite/1017report

will redirect to the article with ID 2017, instead of to the correct article of the report.

I can confirm this with any url that has a number immediately following the slash. Since we do a lot of reports, we are using years in our URLs and they are all redirecting to the wrong place.

I am wondering if there is a way to prevent this from happening.

Thanks in advance for your support.
I should add that we are able to correct the problem by putting the year after the text. For example, mysite.com/report2017 goes to the article correctly. But mysite.com/2017report redirects incorrectly to a different article.

I hope that adds a bit more clarity.

Thanks again!

Hi,

What's the URL pattern that you are using? Is there a link to your site? Note that the new Joomla router functionality has to be disabled in order to make Route 66 work. There is switch for that under the article options.

Regards

The URL pattern is simply {articleAlias}
The Joomla Router is off

Try these URLs and checkout where you land. The page on which you land is completely different from what you'd expect. But the ID of the article you land on matches the number in the URL.

https://cityofeagan.com/2040compplan
see that you don't land on a comp plan article.

Now try
https://cityofeagan.com/2041blahblah
see that you don't land on a blah blah article.

If you put text before the number, the problem goes away.
https://cityofeagan.com/blahblah2041 correctly delivers a 404.

Route66 works fine otherwise. We aren't having any other issues. We fixed this by changing our article alias.
Can you please create a new private ticket and provide administrator access so I can have a look?

Regards

That's an issue of the Joomla router, not Route 66. You will get the exact same behavior without Route 66.
