#457 – resolution and weight of the image

Status: Closed - Category: Econa
Hello,

Little problem to finalize the use of your plugin.
I configured the plugin of custom fields (sending images by email because impossible here).
The resolution is not the right one.
1 / Is the order important?
2 / Do you automatically distribute the image in responsive mode for the mobile?
In extensions I often see a different choice of settings for displaying in an article depending on the screen, tablet or mobile! Suggestion!

I was able to download a photo of 8 MB, with a slow download time (logical).
Currently the message indicates the size (server but on size): "Maximum download size: 128.00 MB"
3 / How to limit the size of the downloaded photo between 4 and 8 MB?
Can you answer these questions and my previous ones (other thread)
Regards
Hi,
Small error saving an add-on :-(
XL is 1280 px. Ajustement seems good to me -> http://www.alterweb.info/fr/documents/image/test-resol-imag
The other questions remain valid of course :-)

Hi,

Econa is using the HTML5 srcset attribute for images. In short, this means that the browser will download automatically the most appropriate size depending on the screen resolution.
You can further optimize this by tweaking the sizes attribute.

If you want to learn how this works you can read https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Learn/HTML/Multimedia_and_embedding/Responsive_images .
It's a bit long but worths reading it. If you need more help with this or have any questions let me know.

Regarding the file size, this is something that has to do with the width and mainly the quality of the resized image. You need to tweak the quality to see which value works best for you. In general setting the quality around 85 should be fine for large images (like 1200px).

Hi,
A/ As I understand it the display is managed by css. okay
But it is necessary to indicate several sizes (S, L, ...)
A priori order does not matter, but I will tend to put all sizes everywhere !! to help load the best size for each screen.
How to determine this?

B/ For size, I understand. my question is rather how to prevent someone from downloading an image of 5mo (eg).
He will believe that the loading time comes from the site while it is his image that is too big.
Would it be possible to have a max file limit setting to download and tell him this message rather than letting him believe he can download a file up to 128 MB !!

Hi,

A. It's up to you (and your design) to plan your image sizes. The browser will choose automatically the most appropriate image size. Using the sizes attribute you are telling the browser the display requirements of the image so it can decide which size is the best to choose. Finally setting all sizes for options is a good thing.

B. Can you please clarify? Do you have a download button? As I wrote before, the browser will choose the most appropriate image size available.

Here is an other article that might help you understand how responsive images work: https://www.sitepoint.com/how-to-build-responsive-images-with-srcset/

Hi,
I reformulate the request because I also need a minimum size:
